It has been a few days since the sudden onset of the cold weather, and I'm glad to announce that everything is fine and dandy :D Cool crops are much more hardy than I thought.
The ten week old cauliflowers are looking rather stunted. Maybe it's due to the lack of sun in their shady territory.

Poor lettuces are the only exception. The ones that were transplanted as small seedlings are fine, but it looks like these big guys have just encountered a twister.
A few days ago, I woke up to find my strawberry plot pillaged to the brink of destruction.
Thank goodness they're hardy little things that refuse to die. On the other hand, the peas and chives are not doing too well. I wonder who the culprits are. The pigeons? Robins? Fluffy bunnies?
I believe it's the big fat squirrel who is always on the lookout for an afternoon snack in my backyard.
The apple tree is turning green. Hope we get several baskets of applicious joy this year.
Looks like the few onions (shallots?) we stuck in last fall have given birth to triplets.
Good for the picking soon.

Unfortunately, I can't say the same for this one. On a side note, I had to pull out some weeds underneath the snow like the small one at the top of the picture. If my peppers and eggplants were as resilient, I'd have a basket of frosty vegetables!

Can't believe it - the sacrificial eggplant is bearing fruit. For some odd reason black flies have recently stopped visiting my backyard, giving a chance for the leaves to survive before they get chomped off. I guess more leaves = healthier plant = fruit
