Happy when it rains

Rose lettuce

I'm running out of space, so this poor leaf lettuce had to be planted in between two giant rose bushes. Looks like I got lucky and there's enough space for two more lettuce plants

Container garden

The roses are great, attracting numerous bumblebees (and unfortunately freaky wasps) to the garden

My uncle threw this mini greenhouse in the garage after he found it to be too clumsy and fragile for his garden. I salvaged it, making it more stable by pounding the steel together with a hammer and holding it down with bricks. The plastic cover is half ripped, but it still works for the most part

This photo is from awhile back when the now already harvested lettuce were baby seedlings. I miss spring, my favourite season, so much!

Canopy of sweet potato leaves

We bought several sweet potatoes from the local supermarket for my uncle and the next thing we knew they took over the garden much like the zucchini plant. Can't believe it actually worked, and they're free of diseases! How sweet ; )

Neglect

#3

I really should stop by LCBO soon before another swarm of snails invades the garden

We sliced up some store-bought sweet potatoes, planted them a few inches apart and voila! A canopy of sweet potatoes

Even with the crazy amount of weeds we were able to grow some pretty healthy looking peppers

Zucchini: male or female?

Another zucchini harvest

This time, these two are going to Alvin and Kathy. Maybe they can puree it for Ashley :D

Shallot

I'm pretty picky when it comes to picture quality but I gave up on this one after a quarter of an hour trying. My point-and-shoot camera had difficulty focusing on the small bulb so this is the best I could do. Bleh, anyhoo, got the bulbs from T&T and yes! They're growing!

Seed sale!

I was getting some milk from No Frills when I saw a bright, neon yellow sign that said "4 for $1" What an amazing deal! I wonder how the pumpkin and watermelon will fare next year in my teeny weeny garden

Mesclun flowers

Need to read up on this, but I guess seeds can be collected from them

Zucchini harvest

They're ready! I harvested one each day and in the end gave all three to Fiona's mom

First zucchini. The skin was covered with marks that resembled bird pecks and one side was much paler than the other

Second zucchini. This one was nicely tanned and measured 20 cm

Third zucchini. Smooth and skinny skin, scratch-free, and of reasonable size - how perfect!

Baby peppers

The oldest pepper that unfortunately got a scorching, black tan. Hope the others don't follow in her footsteps

Lettuce seedlings are enjoying the shade, but the pepper plants and marigolds are not happy at all

Strawberries are ready!

First strawberry ripe enough for the picking

Since there was only one strawberry and five of us, I had to cut the poor thing up

Leeno and Michelle thought the baggies were super cute :D

Who did this?

Buttercrunch lettuce dish

Believe it or not, there are four plants on that tiny plate

Slug munching on my crisp, juicy lettuce

Mushrooms have been popping up everywhere. Too bad they're not edible

So many fungi!

Basil's ready!

These 70 day old (so slow growing!) basil plants are ready to leave home for good. I'll think about you guys every time I look over to my windowsill
