Carrot spillage

Had a little accident and all the six week old chubbies came spilling out of the pot. Curse my clumsiness!

Here's a look at the orange part of the chubby seedlings.

Four went back in to the pot, while the other four were placed in the ground. Both groups are doing just fine : )

Netting set up

So thrilled!

Went on a massive garden centre binge this weekend from Lowe's to Canadian Tire and several other stores in the neighbourhood. I picked up a packet of Mesclun seeds along with Pak Choy, and a pretty pot of African Daisies for Michelle. She tried propagating several stems from my giant daisy bush last year but alas! They didn't live their lives to the fullest. Hope this time things will be different :D

Home Depot had quite a nice selection of annuals.

Happy Earth Day!

If you did something earth friendly today, Poof Tree gives you a special heart.

Cherry Blossoms at High Park

Brunch at Grenadier Restaurant. It was jam packed with enthusiastic cherry blossom watchers, including a very special boy that kept making faces at me from the patio. Watch it kid, your face might one day freeze like that ; )

On to the show! The view was absolutely breathtaking.

Another amazing view: looking up, a canopy of beautiful blossoms.

Looking down, a young cherry blossom tree. Seems like they're trying to expand the cherry blossom path.

Looking closer, Petit Budbud the ornament!

Looking even closer [ ' " ] < I'd like to move here

Harvest: yay/nay

I felt like harvesting something and pulled these young shallots out. Now they must go back in. Sorry.

Relocation

Moved a few things around the garden like this pea (among other peas) from the yogurt container to the field.

Once potted Swiss chard now in the ground. Hmm, not a very happy, well-adjusting bunch.

Cauliflower I moved to the square across from its sibling, Cauliflower II.

Sesame

Supermarket bought seeds are growing :D Hope they produce some lovely sesame seeds.

On the windowsill

Ya, Dixie cups!

Pepper stuck inside

It suddenly snowed this morning and is now a chilly 5'C. Talk about crazy weather, it was a gorgeous 21'C three days ago.

Shell

My backyard is emitting an archaeological feel : D

Pot vs Field

Pot spinach, ten weeks.

Field spinach.

Pot tatsoi, two and a half weeks.

Field tatsoi.

Pot Swiss chard, four and a half weeks.

Field Swiss chard.

Random seedlings -4

Three week old lettuce.

One month old napa. It's so cute with its fat leaves.

One week old beets are crawling out. You'll get your beets soon enough, Rach!

One month old carrot.

One month old chubbie.

One week old peas.

The culprit

A few days ago, I woke up to find my strawberry plot pillaged to the brink of destruction.

Thank goodness they're hardy little things that refuse to die. On the other hand, the peas and chives are not doing too well. I wonder who the culprits are. The pigeons? Robins? Fluffy bunnies?

I believe it's the big fat squirrel who is always on the lookout for an afternoon snack in my backyard.

Three-headed daffodil

What's left at my mom's place

The apple tree is turning green. Hope we get several baskets of applicious joy this year.

Looks like the few onions (shallots?) we stuck in last fall have given birth to triplets.

Brassicas in the ground

Three week old broccoli.

Two and a half week old cauliflower.

More seedlings -5

Took forever to get the gailan and napa seedlings into their new Dixie homes. My quest for neatness is quite time consuming ( -.- )

Three week old Parmex carrots whose true leaves are starting to show.

Same for the one month old Nantes Coreless carrots.

One week old peas. I recently started a few more since only five sprouted.

Wind warning

Yikes! Talk about raging weather. The mini greenhouse's plastic cover blew off, leaving the seedlings completely unprotected. The once tall and proud cauliflower seedlings are now drooping over their pots. The leafy vegetables in the field have taken significant damage as well. I really should have brought the potted plants inside before heading out for dinner : (

Transplanted seedlings -6

Tatsoi in pot.

Moved several seedlings to the field including the surprisingly slow growing Swiss chard...

...basil whose leaves are turning purple after a night outside...

...and a few tatsoi ( " ) and spinach seedlings ~( " )~
