Goodbye, bird and plant

I was so thrilled when I found several zucchini flowers at this time of year

Then I saw this poor bird. Sorry zucchini plant but you have to go now because memories of my late birds Elmo and Apple are resurfacing :*(

Basket harvest

Veggiebasket: lettuce, strawberries, tomatoes, beans and zucchini. Talk about a productive harvest : ) Got the handy wicker basket from my cousin's garage sale

Toperbasket. For some odd reason only one out of several dozen chili peppers turned red. Hope the ones I left alone will ripen soon

More zucchinis

Zucchini 22, 23 and 24

Baby Big

Felt like adding a little fun and shock to the garden, so I let one of my zucchinis grow as it pleased.

Baby Big: born August 16, 2009

19 inches long

weighing in at a hefty 8.4 lbs

Zucchini: male or female?

Another zucchini harvest

This time, these two are going to Alvin and Kathy. Maybe they can puree it for Ashley :D

Zucchini harvest

They're ready! I harvested one each day and in the end gave all three to Fiona's mom

First zucchini. The skin was covered with marks that resembled bird pecks and one side was much paler than the other

Second zucchini. This one was nicely tanned and measured 20 cm

Third zucchini. Smooth and skinny skin, scratch-free, and of reasonable size - how perfect!

Space hogging zucchini

Lettuce seedlings are enjoying the shade, but the pepper plants and marigolds are not happy at all
